Triple win, one mission: We are driving more sustainable packaging forward
We won three WorldStar Packaging Awards!
In May, we had the honor of receiving three WorldStar Packaging Awards at the official ceremony held in Milan. Organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO), the WorldStar Awards are among the most prestigious global recognitions in the packaging industry, highlighting innovation, sustainability, and excellence in packaging design and performance.
This year, our teams across Austria, Germany, Turkey, and South Africa were recognized for their outstanding contributions to packaging that not only meets the needs of our customers but also supports a more sustainable future.

EcoPeelCover – Redefining material efficiency
- Award category: Packaging materials and components
- Developed by: Constantia Teich & Constantia Nusser
EcoPeelCover is our ultra-thin die-cut lid solution that significantly reduces material usage while maintaining exceptional peelability, corrosion protection, and puncture resistance. Developed in close collaboration with Privatmolkerei Bauer, this innovation offers a more sustainable alternative to conventional lidding without compromising on product protection.
After already winning the German Packaging Award in 2024, EcoPeelCover has now earned international recognition from the WorldStar jury for its smart combination of sustainability and efficiency. It’s a proud achievement for our teams in Austria and Germany, and a strong example of how we continue to push the boundaries of resource-efficient packaging.

EcoLamHighPlus – Simplifying structures, enhancing recyclability
- Award category: Packaging materials and components
- Developed by: Constantia ASAS
EcoLamHighPlus is our high-barrier mono-material laminate designed to replace traditional multi-material structures that are difficult to recycle. Developed by our team at Constantia ASAS in Turkey, this solution offers excellent product protection while being designed for recycling in the existing flexible polyethylene (PE) stream.
It’s a major step forward in our mission to support a circular economy through packaging that performs without compromise.

EcoVer – Cutting layers, boosting impact
- Award category: Food
- Developed by: Constantia Afripack
EcoVer is Constantia Flexibles’ proprietary packaging solution developed in collaboration with our partner Imana for the Imana Soups, Gravies & Sauces range. This South African first reduced the pack structure from 8 to 3 layers, cut material usage by 30%, and transitioned to enhanced recyclability, locally sourced materials. The redesign also introduced a matte finish for improved shelf appeal and simplified production with a solvent-free, high-barrier laminate. With 61 SKUs now unified under this format, EcoVer has delivered significant environmental, logistical, and aesthetic benefits.
The new structure reduced pack mass from 114.4 gsm to 87.08 gsm, enabled energy savings through lower sealing temperatures, and eliminated the need for imported materials. It also supported broader retail distribution, now covering Checkers, Shoprite, and Super Sheba soup brands—making it the largest pack range launch in South Africa to date.
A shared success across continents
These three awards are more than just trophies, they represent the strength of our global network, the creativity of our people, and our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability. From concept to execution, each of these solutions reflects the dedication and expertise of our teams across multiple plants and regions.
We are proud of what we have achieved together, and we will keep pushing forward, developing packaging that’s smarter, more sustainable, and always focused on the needs of our customers and the planet.
Congratulations to everyone involved in these projects!
