Double certified by ASI for responsible aluminum and transparent supply chains
We have just been certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) for both the Performance Standard V3 and the Chain of Custody Standard V2! These certifications confirm that the way we source, and handle aluminum meets strict environmental, social, and governance criteria — verified by an independent body.

Why aluminum matters to us, and to the future of packaging
Aluminum is not just a material we use, it’s a material we rely on. It plays a central role in our packaging portfolio, valued for its ability to protect products, extend shelf life, and support recyclability at scale. Its barrier properties are excellent when it comes to shielding contents from light, oxygen, moisture, and contaminants — factors that can degrade product quality, safety, and efficacy. The same characteristics that make aluminum essential in aerospace and automotive industries — lightweight strength, durability, and resistance to external elements — make it indispensable in flexible packaging.
Aluminum is part of our identity at Constantia Flexibles. It enables us to meet the highest expectations for product protection while advancing our sustainability goals. With ASI certification, we now have independent confirmation that the way we source and manage aluminum meets rigorous environmental and social standards. That gives our customers confidence that their packaging choices are not only high performing, but also responsibly made.
Why this certification matters more than ever
The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) has significantly raised the bar in recent years. What was once a relatively straightforward audit has evolved into a process comparable in complexity and rigor to ISO certifications. This evolution means that achieving ASI certification today is not only more demanding, but also more meaningful. It reflects a deep, verified commitment to responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and social accountability. That’s why we are especially proud to be double certified under both the Performance Standard V3 and the Chain of Custody Standard V2.
What this means in practice
These certifications allow us to offer ASI-certified aluminum packaging. For our customers, that means packaging solutions that meet growing expectations around responsible sourcing. For us, it’s a way to strengthen our supply chain, reduce risk, and stay ahead of evolving sustainability standards.
Getting here took real work
This wasn’t a quick process. It involved collaboration across teams, detailed audits, and aligning our operations with ASI’s high standards. One of the key sites in this certification journey was our Constantia Nusser plant in Germany, which underwent a thorough assessment as part of the audit process. The certification reflects the work done on the ground—where sustainability isn’t just a strategy, but part of daily operations. It’s all part of a bigger picture, one where we are constantly improving how we manage materials, reduce environmental impact, and build trust across our value chain.
ASI shared our story
ASI also featured us in a recent member spotlight, highlighting our approach to innovation and sustainability. From our EcoLam family of recyclable laminates to our global sustainability governance, the story shows how we are combining performance with responsibility.
