Two plants with the same milestone 365 days of Safe Work
This summer, two Constantia Flexibles plants reached this important milestone: Constantia Drniš and Constantia Ebert.
Working every day and accomplishing one year without an injury od accident is true accomplishment worth celebrating. Reaching 365 days without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) is more than a number on a board. It is a reflection and success of hundreds of daily decisions, safe behaviors, and colleagues looking out for one another.
Safety built day by day in Drniš
At Constantia Drniš, the achievement was celebrated across all three shifts with refreshments, small gifts, and a speech from the Plant Manager. It was an opportunity to recognize the people behind the milestone and thank everyone who contributed to it.
For Sead Zelenović, HSSE Head at the site, this achievement belongs to the entire team:
"I am proud of my colleagues in Drniš and grateful for the support and help from colleagues across other Constantia plants."
This spirit of teamwork is at the heart of the site's success.
Located in Croatia, Constantia Drniš specializes in converting aluminum, plastics, and paper using continuous annealing, coextrusion, and laminating technologies, manufacturing films and foils for customers across Europe and beyond. The site is also known for its technological expertise, material conversion capabilities, and niche products such as coffee capsule materials and POE foils.
Strong safety measures at Ebert
At Constantia Ebert, reaching one year without an LTI reflects not only strong safety awareness but also a series of concrete HSSE improvements implemented over the past year.
The site invested in several safety measures, including:
Additional automatic defect-marking systems to reduce manual interaction with production materials
New safety light curtains on slitting and production equipment to prevent access to machines while running
Mechanical protection systems and safeguarding solutions to reduce risks around nip points and moving equipment
Extensive safety training sessions focused on lessons learned from Group LTIs, fire prevention, static electricity risks, and the safe handling of flammable liquids
Ongoing focus on safe behavior, free escape routes, and clean production environments through regular HSSE reporting and observations
As a specialist in twist-wrapping films for the confectionery industry, Constantia Ebert combines film manufacturing, vacuum metallizing, printing, and slitting under one roof. Innovations such as Wrapstar® and Ecotwist® have helped establish the site as a trusted partner within the confectionery market.
More than a number
Whether in Croatia or Germany, the message is the same: safety is not a one-time project, but built every day through awareness, responsibility, training, and teamwork.
Congratulations to everyone at Constantia Drniš and Constantia Ebert for reaching this milestone. Thank you for your commitment to making safety a priority and for helping ensure that everyone returns home safely every day.
The importance of being LTI-Free
Maintaining an LTI-free record is essential for us. We meticulously scrutinize every detail to prevent even minor incidents that could disrupt our streak. To support this, we adhere to the 10 Golden Rules of Safety, which reinforce the use of safety gear in all activities. These rules encompass practices such as wearing cut-resistant gloves when working with Doctor Blades, using a harness for tasks at heights over 2 meters, and reporting any observed unsafe situations. These examples are part of a comprehensive set of guidelines designed to ensure the safety of our colleagues from the moment they step onto the work premises.
