Constantia Flexibles invests in new printing technology in Germany

Vienna, February 16, 2017 - Constantia Flexibles Group has invested nearly three million euro in printing technology at its manufacturing site in Wangen im Allgäu, Germany.

An extra rotogravure-unit has been added to an existing UV Flexo printing press dedicated for medium-sized batches serving the dairy industry. It will now be possible to print the bar spacers of dairy lids inline instead of outline in a second working step, as was done in the past.

In addition, a UV-Flexo machine has been added to cater for small batches. This investment will mean the closure of old machines and as a result, the complete elimination of solvent use. Nusser will therefore contribute greatly to improving its own environmental performance through reducing CO2 and fugitive emissions.

The Wangen im Allgäu site is the home to Constantia Nusser GmbH – a leading supplier of high-quality aluminum-based lids for the local dairy industry for more than 90 years. Nusser has about 120 employees and some 70 percent of its sales is generated with customers in southern Germany. The site is ISO 9001:2000, 50001, BRC and FDAHygiene certified. Capacity will be gradually ramped up in the coming six months.
