In our ongoing effort to further transparency and highlight our commitment to sustainability, we at Constantia Flexibles are proud to unveil our 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report. This detailed document lays out our strategic approach, materiality matrix, and a thorough examination of our ESG initiatives, focusing on environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance excellence.
At the heart of our strategy is a robust materiality matrix that pinpoints key areas for sustainability efforts. Our roadmap emphasizes the integration of ESG principles across all operations, ensuring that every aspect of our business contributes to a more sustainable future.
ENVIRONMENT
The environmental section of our report showcases several significant achievements. A major focus has been on reducing emissions. Our report details GHG emissions in Scope 1, 2, and 3 and highlights our 2023 net-zero commitment towards the SBTi (Science-based target initiative). Additionally, over 70% of the electricity we consumed in 2023 was sourced from renewable energy, highlighting a significant shift towards greener energy solutions.
SOCIAL
Social responsibility also takes center stage in our report. Health and safety remain top priorities, with our Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) dropping from 2.2 last year to 1.9 in 2023. This improvement reflects our ongoing efforts to create a safer work environment. Moreover, the introduction of the Wellbeing Hub marks a significant step towards nurturing both the physical and mental health of our employees, aiming to foster a workplace where happiness and wellbeing are paramount.
GOVERNANCE
Governance, the third pillar of our ESG framework, is thoroughly addressed in our report. We underscore our commitment to social responsibility, fairness, ethics, and sustainability through a robust code of conduct that guides both our employees and suppliers. Anti-corruption measures and third-party due diligence procedures are firmly in place to prevent unethical practices. A notable development in this area is the rollout of the Constantia Flexibles Integrity Line, a software-based whistleblowing solution designed to enhance transparency and accountability within our organization. We also continue to invest in comprehensive training programs to ensure all staff are well-versed in compliance and ethical standards.
