New polytype coating machine goes online at Constantia Patz
Global expansion in the Hubs and Satellites network is just one focus of Constantia Flexibles’s considerable investment in the future. In our quest to provide customers with products of the best possible quality, we are investing millions of euros in both new and existing facilities. Meet the latest addition: a new 11.5-million-euro coating production line at Constantia Patz located in a clean room area.
If you had walked into this production hall in early 2018, you would have found rows of pallet racks and storage bins filled with raw materials. It could hardly be more different today! The hall is now home to a state-of-the-art Polytype coating machine designed to coat aluminum and produce complex multilayer aluminum-based laminates that meets class 8 clean room standards in compliance with ISO 14644.
The plan to pursue the growing pharmaceutical market for blister foils kicked off in November 2017, when management agreed on an investment budget in the tens of millions of euros. “This expansion,” according to Rainer Huber, Managing Director of Constantia Patz, “is the next phase in our successful strategy to produce standardized pharmaceutical packaging with the most demanding clean room standards.” As ever, quality was our top priority when it comes to selecting and structuring the production lines, the machinery, and any necessary infrastructure. “Long before production goes online,” Huber explains, “all new equipment is subject to a rigorous validation process.”
With the Polytype clean room coating machine as the centerpiece of the project, we also purchased an additional slitting machine and built a new warehouse with a loading ramp. This brings the number of clean room production lines at Constantia Patz to five, enabling the company to offer its customers across the globe with the best possible service in terms of quality, hygiene, supply flexibility, and provide intrinsic back-up production capability.
