One Year of Working Safe – Constantia Blythewood reaches 1 year LTI‑Free
New Year, same safety goals – and we have reached one more great milestone – one year LTI free in our Constantia Blythewood plant.
This achievement is the result of many small actions done consistently: looking out for one another, following procedures, speaking up, and taking responsibility, regardless of role or function. It shows what is possible when safety is treated as a shared value and not just a requirement. Safety is not marked by milestones alone, it is built into everyday decisions, routines, and behaviors on the shop floor and beyond. Reaching one full year without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) is therefore not just a number, but a reflection of how safety is lived day in and day out across the site.
A demanding environment — safely managed
Constantia Blythewood, LLC manufactures and distributes aluminum and paper‑based flexible packaging solutions for demanding markets including pharmaceuticals (blister lidding and coldform), dairy, confectionery, processed food, pet food, and beverages. Operating in such diverse and highly regulated industries requires precision, discipline, and constant focus, making this LTI‑free achievement particularly meaningful.
Strict quality control is ensured through state‑of‑the‑art equipment and processes, supporting the highest standards in quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. The site fully complies with FDA/IMS requirements for the U.S. market and holds certifications including ISO 9001, SQF, FDA/IMS, and SMETA (Letter of Conformity).
Safety as part of how we operate
At Constantia Flexibles, responsibility toward our employees is an essential part of our company values. At Blythewood, health protection and occupational safety are embedded in daily operations, alongside social and ethical responsibility. The one‑year LTI‑free milestone highlights how safety, operational excellence, and compliance go hand in hand when people are fully engaged.
This achievement belongs to everyone at Constantia Blythewood — every colleague who contributes to a safe working environment through awareness, care, and accountability.
Congratulations to the entire Constantia Blythewood team on reaching one-year LTI‑free. Thank you for demonstrating, every day, what a strong safety culture looks like in practice
The importance of being LTI-Free
Maintaining an LTI-free record is essential for us. We meticulously scrutinize every detail to prevent even minor incidents that could disrupt our streak. To support this, we adhere to the 10 Golden Rules of Safety, which reinforce the use of safety gear in all activities. These rules encompass practices such as wearing cut-resistant gloves when working with Doctor Blades, using a harness for tasks at heights over 2 meters, and reporting any observed unsafe situations. These examples are part of a comprehensive set of guidelines designed to ensure the safety of our colleagues from the moment they step onto the work premises.
