The winners
And the result? One outstanding winner and two impressive runners-up, each contributing to meaningful, measurable progress in packaging innovation.
First place: PCR in sealant for EcoLamPlus
This project introduced the first structure with 41% mechanical post-consumer recycled (mPCR) content in the sealant layer—launched in February 2025 and now set to replace the virgin EcoLam portfolio for Reckitt. It’s a clear example of how recycled materials can meet demanding performance and safety standards.
Plants involved: Constantia Teich Poland, Constantia Drukpol, and Constantia Pirk
Second place (tie): AluKPod
The Keurig K-Pod system sells over 26 billion capsules annually, yet until now, all pods were made out of plastic with an aluminum lid and therefore not recyclable. The AluKPod is the first aluminum version compatible with all K-CUP® brewers. It offers improved recyclability and leverages the energy efficiency of aluminum recycling, which can save up to 95% compared to virgin production.
Partner: Cambio Roasters
Plants involved: Constantia Teich and Constantia Aloform
Second Place (tie): Pre-made Pouches in EcoVerHighPlus
This project replaced a multi-material structure (PET/ALU/PET/PE) with a Designed for Recycling alternative (OPP/SioxPP/CPP), while maintaining hot fill and pasteurization capabilities and a 15-month shelf life. Successfully qualified on the IMA line at Constantia Alucap, it is a step forward in creating lightweight packaging without compromising product and environmental protection.
Sites involved: Constantia Alucap, Constantia Teich Poland, and Constantia Tobepal
Congratulations to all the winners! These projects show that innovation is not just about new ideas. -It is about solving real challenges with measurable results. That is how we move forward with our customers.
