Constantia Flexibles has invested in new UV-Flexo printing technology at its manufacturing site in Louvain, Belgium, for small and medium sized lots for the pharmaceutical packaging industry.

A new 4-color UV-Flexo press will start full production in the second quarter of 2017, supporting customers from the pharmaceutical industry with small- to medium-sized lots.

“We are delighted that this update in technology strengthens our sustainable outlook on doing business and signals the introduction of more UV presses for Louvain in the future,” said Pierre-Henri Bruchon, Executive Vice President of the Pharma division. Reasons for this optimistic statement are that the new technology lowers solvent emissions significantly, while increasing print capacity. And even more: With that investment Constantia Flexibles is able to offer new products from Louvain in the near future.

Constantia Louvain is an integral part of the Pharma Division’s Satellite concept in Europe, (see the articles in our previous newsletters) using pre-material from larger plants to print and slit foils and laminates for customers located in close proximity to the plant. The key focus of the satellite concept is the ability to produce short to medium sized runs that offer quick turnaround and quality products, regardless of whether it’s a new design or a repeat order. This means faster reaction time based on a deeper understanding of specific customer needs.
