CitraFleet sachets by Casen Recordati.
For the Pharma Division of Constantia Flexibles, customer closeness means having a good understanding of the issues that affect individual customers. These can range from a company’s individual requirements in the areas of production and sales to the trends of the pharmaceutical and healthcare market in general. Plus: physical closeness also matters, which is why the smaller pharma satellite plants exist.
Foils and laminates are printed and slit there. The base materials come from the well-known Constantia Flexibles locations of Patz, Hueck and Tobepal. Being close to customers means wishes can be fulfilled more quickly. That applies, for example, to short runs, as the cooperation with Casen Recordati shows. The company has been a unit of the Recordati Group for around two years. The Group has its head office in Italy, more precisely in Milan, and generates a billion EUR sales per year. Constantia Flexibles supplies Casen Recordati with printed laminates for sachets, which are used for products in the areas of gastroenterology and pediatrics. Examples include Sueroral, Casenglicol, Casenlax and Citrafleet. Printed laminates for the corresponding sachets were previously supplied directly from Tobepal (PET/ ALU/PE). However, because sales can vary widely in the various countries or if a brand new product is being launched, the production of small batches is also necessary as is possible at the pharma satellite plants.
An example of the successful printing of short runs in this context is the product Citrafleet from Casen Recordati. The laminate sachet for Citrafleet, a product used to clean the intestines prior to examination, is produced at Constantia Tobepal. First, the PET is reverse printed in white and then laminated with the aluminum and the PE. This finished white laminate is then delivered to our satellite site in Louvain. Here, the laminate is surface printed with three or four-colors on the PET in a very short time, in the desired quantity and quality. Juan Manuel Manzano, Account Manager at Constantia Flexibles, describes the project with the customer Casen Recordati by saying, “Sometimes, it’s the little things or in this case a short run that become big challenges. That was the case with Citrafleet, so our customer is delighted that we are able to react very quickly and with flexibility to its wishes, now and in the future.”
