…and the awards went to: Constantia Flexibles!

Constantia Flexibles received EAFA Alufoil Trophy and German Packaging Award (Deutscher Verpackungspreis) at FachPack 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany.

Not one but two awards were presented to Constantia Flexibles and their partners for ourtstanding packaging solutions yesterday at the FachPack trade fair in Nuremberg.

The Executive Director of the European Aluminum Foil Association (EAFA), Guido Aufdemkamp had travelled to Nuremberg to present the renowned EAFA Alufoil Trophy* to Constantia Flexibles and three representants of the Southern German meat product producer Rehm Fleischwaren (https://www.rehm-fleischwaren.de/).

The Processed Meat Business Unit of Constantia Flexibles Food Division has designed and manufactured an aluminum foil tray and lid system “Ofen-Fleischkäs’ – ready for baking@home”, which contains pre-cooked meat preparations. They enable convenient baking directly in the packaging for a whole range of meat-based products that can be quickly and hygienically removed prior to consumption – this won the Alufoil Trophy in the category Consumer Convenience.

“With the Alufoil Trophy we don’t recognize the packaging or the filling alone – we look at the whole product and see if it works. In this case both things came together perfectly and the jury was impressed by the functionality of the product”, Guido Aufdemkamp underlined.

Peter Wallach, SVP Sales Food Europe for Processed Meat and Alufoil-Container added: “It was a great project to realize the aluminum foil container together with Rehm Fleischwaren – winning an award for our innovative packaging solutions is a very nice outcome of the time and work the team invested.”

After the award ceremony was before the award ceremony in this case as the colleagues of the Labels Division received the German Packaging Award (Deutscher Verpackungspreis) for the production of the Christmas Bow label for Coca-Cola a couple of minutes later. Kai Sparbier and Gerd Blecken received the award on behalf of the labels team at Constantia Flexibles.

The Christmas Bow label for Coca Cola is a special  gravure printed 2 ply reel fed clear metallized OPP labels, laminated with special glue, available with or without perforation,  and a pull strip to convert the wrap around label into a “bow”. According to an independent jury the result is a very unusual and different label that is fun to use and to interact with. It is a technically intelligent solution that runs on high-speed lines and the consumer and the brand offer a playful seasonal value.
