How long have you been with the company? More than 25 years
What does your typical day involve?
Travelling ;-); emailing and phoning
Keeping things moving
What do you like best about your job?
The people, our global footprint with the involvement of all the different cultures, the changing daily new challenges and driving our product range.
How did you get started in this industry?
After studying chemistry I started at a German converting company close to Cologne, in the R&D center. This company specialised in the coating of registration paper and film material. Beside that they had metallizing equipment and one of my challenges was to develop a metallized paper for the beverage industry. After spending a couple of years there, I moved to Haendler & Natermann, taking the challenge of coating and the colorful part, the printing. Starting in the laboratory, technical customer service was soon part of the job. After years of heading R&D and technical customer service I moved over to sales and took on the challenge of running and developing the label business.
What are your favorite sports or pastimes?
I love spending time with my wife, dancing. Long distance runs load up my batteries.
Do you have a favorite sports team that you root for?
Not a real one, I like to follow football on a Champions league level (if I am not on a plane)
What would people be surprised to know about you?
My engagement as a member of the Lions on social projects
What is your favorite band, movie, or book?
I am a consumer, I listen to pop and R&B (with a preference for women's voices), thrillers and action movies and books to relax. I seldom see or read something twice (as I immediately recognize the end)
What was your favorite holiday/vacation?
I've visited some nice places. I will never forget the moment standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon. I also love the wilderness and the landscape of the southern part of Africa.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Stay authentic, be yourself.
